Example #016 - A/B testing correctly

Hey — it’s Deepak

Reading time - 1 min

If you’ve a landing page or ever made one for someone, you know how important A/B testing can be, so here’s how you can do it correctly.

And if you are testing don’t be lazy and start with a bad idea.

Make the options as best as you can and test it internally before you run A/B test on real users.

The simplest and the most correct way to run A/B tests is to not change more than one element at a time but yes you can make more than two variations depending on how much traffic you have.

Decide exactly what you are changing and test weather it’s a better option or not, it can be:

  • Pricing

  • Image

  • Copy

  • CTA

  • Shape

    • Round

    • Sharp

  • Color

  • Layout

Pick only one
Because even if the conversion rate or CTR or AOV or whatever metric you’re trying to improve increases, you won’t know what caused it.

  • Was it the color?

  • Was it the copy?

  • or the image?

Pick one element → Make multiple variations → Test and see results → Repeat

Appreciate you reading. It really means a lot.
