Example #019 - Reduce cart abandonment rates
Hey — it’s Deepak
Did yoga & meditation this morning, I don’t know the science behind it, but feeling super relaxed, try it.
Reading time - 2 min
This one is for all the ecommerce store owners…try this…this is a great way to deal with high cart abandonment rates.
5 proven ways to reduce cart abandonment
1. Guest checkout
Have an option to order without creating an account.
In a survey, 24% of customers said they changed their minds about completing the purchase because they were asked to create an account to finish the checkout process.
2. Thumbnails
Include a thumbnail of products throughout the checkout process so that it’s easier for users who have added many items to scan through their shopping lists.
3. Apply automated discount codes
As Zomato does, if you’ve got a discount code available for the user automatically apply the best one, it will save time & effort on the user’s end and make them want to hit the buy button.
4. Unexpected hidden costs
In a survey, 48% of buyers agreed that unexpected hidden costs are the most important reason they abandon a shopping cart.
To avoid this, you should display the total price, including taxes, shipping fees, and any other additional charges, upfront in the checkout process.
5. Payment gateway
Use familiar payment gateways that users already trust. consumers are reluctant to surrender their credit/debit card details to e-commerce sites they don’t trust.
And of course, retargeting users, I didn’t include it in the list because that’s very common now and chances are you already know that.
Appreciate you reading. It really means a lot.
